Afrikan Spur Thighed Tortoise

Binomial Nominclature: 
Geochelone sulcata

Medium brown shell that tends to lighten with age. Only surpassed in size by the tortoises of Aldabra and Galapagos. From thirty to two hundred pounds. Always tame.

Alligator Snapping Turtle

Macrochelys temminckii

Dark brown in coloration. Easy to care for and extremely long lived as adults. Adults range from in size from 30 to 250 pounds. Totally aquatic. Good natured as captive born animals.

Bog Turtle

Binomial Nominclature: 
Clemmys muhlenbergi

One of this countries rarest and most sought after turtles. Bog turtles are fighting a losing battle in the wild with their major survival threats being being development and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the respective various state wildlife divisions. Not a great swimmer but love to wade in fresh water bogs. Mahogany brown colored shell with a bold bright lemon yellow blotch on either side of the head. Three to four inches as adults.

Chinese Marginated Box Turtle

Coura flavomarginata

Light olive colored head with a bright yellow stripe. Carapace is medium glossy brown with a bright yellow vertebral stripe. Four to six inches as adults. Semi aquatic. Moist substrate with a shallow wading area. Very tame and sociable.

Beautiful medium sized box turtle. Dark brown shell with radiating white or yellow lines. Should be kept on a moist substrate with a shallow wading area. Always tame and friendly.
