One of this countries rarest and most sought after turtles. Bog turtles are fighting a losing battle in the wild with their major survival threats being being development and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the respective various state wildlife divisions. Not a great swimmer but love to wade in fresh water bogs. Mahogany brown colored shell with a bold bright lemon yellow blotch on either side of the head. Three to four inches as adults.
Light olive colored head with a bright yellow stripe. Carapace is medium glossy brown with a bright yellow vertebral stripe. Four to six inches as adults. Semi aquatic. Moist substrate with a shallow wading area. Very tame and sociable.
Black carapace with white or yellow flecks. Aquatic, but requires a basking area. Always tame and very sociable. These guys will run up to met you when to enter the room.
